Artist bio

Pete Wieland’s art is a testament to the majesty and healing properties of the natural world. Raised in the Santa Cruz Mountains in the 60's and 70's by a single hard working mother, as much as he was by the towering redwoods and ocean waves. In his youth he found comfort and kinship in the tides and swells of the Pacific and by adulthood he knew peace of mind was just a paddle and a few waves away. Eventually diagnosed with and treated for bipolar I disorder Pete found that art allowed him to find peace and manage the turbulence within. To this day he finds escape in the swirling waters and vibrant coral reefs as he meticulously lays pencil to paper. Pete’s art is a celebration of life and a tribute to the solace that can be found in creativity and the natural world.
